Food review : PAUL bakery
After Haslinda's fitfab review on Facebook regarding PAUL bakery, my sis and I took the chance in paying it a visit ourselves during lunch last week.
A little history of PAUL, it started out as a family business from the Mayot(s) since 1889 and with it's fine breads and pastries, it has flourished over time and today,PAUL has a network of over 40 bakery-patisseries around the world serving more than 5 million customers a day, only in FRANCE with their plain and fancy breads, artisan sandwiches, Viennese pastries, small cakes and desserts.
Paul bakery in Singapore is conveniently situated in the heart of Singapore. The compelling ambience was quaint with hints of French and Italian structures, furniture and decor. It was laidback and if you sit near the window, you'll get to enjoy a spectacular view of Takashimaya from above. Indeed the atmosphere was most commendable. But, sis and I were most impressed with the service we received whilst there.
I have never had good service over a food place for quite some time and I must say, the waiters and waitresses were knowledgable, pleasant and VERY polite. It was really an added star besides the surroundings itself.
I ordered the cod with mashed potatoes for my main, iced mint tea and shared a strawberry tart with my niece ,Ivi. The cod was sliced together with the mashed pototes where it tasted juicy and cooked to perfection. It puts shame to all other fish entrèes and mains I've tried so far. Sis ordered the sirloin steak. According to a particular waiter, this dish is never a let-down and it never was. The steak was done exquisitely. It was succulent and perfect.
Our dessert wins it all. My strawberry tart was crusty and the french crème was delicate. My sis ordered crème brulèe. The subtle sweetnes and burnt caramel surface made every inch of our buds curl in sensuality.
All in all, alhamdullilah we had quite a satisfying time and would definitely not be the last visit. Insyaallah
