Lessons from death

Recently, we lost a dear family member. A grandfather, a father, a brilliant man, my granduncle;
Tok Sith.
He was the last sibling amongst my late maternal grandmother's family who was alive till about recently.

Death always bring a valuable lesson in life. A lot of us take the slightest things for granted. And because of that, we do not appreciate what we have. Good health, a wonderful family and happiness are priceless. Some may think that money and fortune are worth more than life but can fortune and wealth really buy us our health and happiness nowadays, especially when the economy is making it's downfall? Is money really the most important factor that is keeping us going right now?

What we have; our fortune, are all perishables. We chose to make it an important factor in life because we depend on it when ultimately we forget where our sustenance actually comes from. We may be the richest of the rich but our hearts are not the happiest, we may be the poorest amongst the poor but our lives are always rich with happiness. Everyone in this world have their set of problems. When wealth is not an issue, life is. When your family ties are strong, your finances may be tight. So what actually is the meaning of life? To seek happiness for ourselves? Or to chase after wealth and status?

Neither.

Our lives should be lived as though it is our last. We should only chase after one goal in life. Entering Jannah and perfecting our dean. We always worry about the little things that we forget our lives are curated by Allah swt himself. He makes our life so perfectly timed that everything happens for a reason at a certain time. With every problem, there is a solution. And it is to lower yourself and seek forgiveness and help by salah. Salah is the only time that we can pour out everything to HIM. Pray, before someone else prays for you.

We always grief upon the passing of someone, but, we forget and ignore those who are still living with us today. We should learn to appreciate those who are still alive, and thank HIM everyday that HE gave us another chance to be with our loved ones. HE gave us a chance to repent and continue to pray and work on our goals in life and hereafter.

Al-fateha to my late granduncle, Tok Sith,my dad Haji Ikhsan Bin Amir, my grandfather, Haji Mohamad Nor Bin Ahmad, my grandmother Hajah Zaleha Binte Ali, my paternal grandparents Haji Amir and Hajah Esa Binte Jacksin. And to the rest of my family who have passed on. May Allah SWT place you in the presence of those who are holy.
